Nice workout, Ben. I am confident that the more you do the exercise the more reps you can do. At least that's how it worked for me. I do find it helps tremendously to have a clear idea of the world you are in and the one you can lead others too. Thanks for picking it up!
The name that came to mind when I read this, "Genre movies, made for a price, coupled with a strong auteurist vision, are what always brings the American film industry back from the brink," is Christopher Nolan.
I should have been clearer about “made for a price,” which means inexpensive—under $10MM. which isn’t Nolan. But Nolan is a great example of that concept at a larger scale, and MEMENTO is exactly the kind of movie I’m describing. It’s the type of movie that can break through and build careers!
Did you mean to suggest LITERALLY "afraid for their lives"? LITERALLY? Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I can't imagine why you would say such a thing. So, I'll ask, what DO you mean?
It is truly so crazy how much these 'people' hate movies lol...
People are always like “we do like movies!!!” And it’s like no. You like prestige television.

This is an interesting piece.

Ah, I get it. That makes sense. Thank you for clarifying.
I'm yet to watch 'Memento', though. (*Feels slightly ashamed after saying that*)
“They should be afraid for their jobs and ideally their lives.”
I will never stop paying for this substack
yay
Agree with #1 and #7 so hard!
The marketing team behind Superman has really leaned into TikTok memes for their promo which is smart.
TikTok memes. That's interesting.
