Hello friends and enemies,

I would first like to say a warm and resounding rest in peace to Eleanor Coppola, whose Hearts of Darkness is an essential companion piece to Apocalypse Now, and an essential documentary in general. Maybe I will blog about that as well when we get to it…

Anyway, today’s Francis Ford Coppola picture is Youth Without Youth—which I didn’t like! On paper, it sounds great. The ideas explored are really very interesting! Tim Roth plays Dominic, a linguistics professor and writer, who is old as fuck in Romania at the outset of World War II. One day, Dominic gets struck by lightning and is suddenly the age of Tim Roth when the film was made, mid-40s.
