I watched Jack in 2024 and it was so crazy. I can’t recommend the experience highly enough. I felt like I was watching a forbidden artifact. It was honestly really pleasurable and I enjoyed it. I’ve been off weed lately because I’m trying to lose weight and weed makes me eat. But I really was like fuck a joint would pair so well with this picture.

Also, I was low-key kind of moved at the end of Jack’s journey. As Vincent Canby wrote in the metacritic pull quote of his New York Times review, “Mr. Coppola is still finally able to make this one from the heart.” (Italics mine!)

Are we all familiar with Jack? It’s about Robin Williams as a literal child; Jack develops physically at four times the pace of a normal person. So at age 10, where the bulk of the film takes place, he appears to be 40 years old man (namely, Robin Williams). But he has the brain of a 10-year-old still. In many ways, Jack was the Poor Things of the 90s.
