Francis Ford Coppola's 'You're a Big Boy Now'
You’re a Big Boy Now contains the first performance directed by Francis Ford Coppola to be nominated for an Academy Award, a tradition that will hopefully continue through this year because a character named Cesar Catilina played by Adam Driver (Megalopolis coming soon to IMAX on September 27th) will certainly be more interesting than whatever is happening at the Toronto International Film Festival currently, where Ralph Fiennes is playing a Catholic.
Anyway, Geraldine Page received her fourth Oscar nomination for playing wealthy, overbearing, high-strung Margery Chanticleer, mother of our protagonist, Bernard Chanticleer (Peter Kastner). Rip Torn, Page’s real life husband, plays I.H. Chanticleer, the curator of incunabula at the New York Public Library. It is unclear how the family became rich as fuck; as far as I’m aware, librarian was never a lucrative position in the United States of America.
